Holland Doc: Another Perfect World

In this documentary the makers take a look at virtual worlds such as Second Life® and seeing virtual worlds as a utopia. The documentary tries to find the answers to some very important questions: who creates these virtual worlds? How are they governed? Are there any rules? How does the economy work?

While most media attention goes to having virtual affairs, this documentary sheds some light on very interesting aspects of virtual worlds. It does not only cover Second Life® but also games such as Lineage and EVE Online. In a virtual world where users can create their own experience it’s interesting to see who exactly has the power in a virtual world. How do the creators of these virtual worlds govern these worlds, are they being fair? Are there any ideologies? Do the creators give freedom to users to express their creativity or should there be laws to better manage these worlds and in doing so limit the creativity of users?
