Heavy Rain

One of the upcoming videogame titles I’m truly looking forward to this year is Heavy Rain an exclusive title for PlayStation 3.

From the previews and gameplay video’s that can be found on the web you can already tell the game looks stunning. But next to great graphics the game also has an interesting plotline. Heavy Rain has 4 different leading characters which story is all connected to the serial killer nicknamed the Origami Killer. Interestingly if one of the characters dies, you can continue the storyline with another character. You haven’t ‘failed’, but the story dynamics have changed.

Director David Cage has stated that Heavy Rain would be a very dark film noir thriller with mature themes. The real message of the game is about how far you are willing to go to save someone you love. I’m really curious on how the interesting gameplay will work together with the plot and which kind of reactions / emotions it will provoke in the person playing Heavy Rain. I’ve added a video below which gives a good example of the gameplay.

Heavy Rain is set for a release on February 23rd, 2010. I will definitely try to get my hands on it through pre-order or as soon as it gets out. Of course a First Thought review will follow.

Heavy Rain is developed by Quantic Dream and published by Sony Computer Entertainment

Ahhh! I saw the preview for this game and was like “I absolutely NEED to play this!” I don’t even own a PS3. I did, however, convince my best friend to buy the game and then lend me his system for a week. Works for me. The graphics are amazing and the idea of having the entire game be dependent on every choice you make is just so interesting!

Woah that’s so nice of your friend :D I’m definitely looking forward to this game and the ‘choices’ you can make in the game. I will probably try to choose ‘good’ options like saving the owner of the store. But I must admit I am also curious what will happen if you don’t do it *gulp*
