Let’s Bake It!

One of my resolutions for 2010 is improving my cooking & baking skills. When I was a kid I secretly baked cookies when I was home alone. Sometimes this didn’t work out really great, but most of the time my cookies were pretty edible. Instead of immediatly going pro and bake the most wonderful things from scratch, I have decided to practice with various baking mixes first.
American Cookies
Some time ago I picked up the Home Made American Cookies Mix. I only needed to add a little bit of water so I thought it was the most easiest to start with. I already Tweeted about it here and here! I accidentally added more water instead of the 50ml *woops* The dough got a tad too wet so it was hard to shape the cookies. In the end they turned out pretty good even though the shape was a bit off.
Brownies
Since baking cookies went somewhat OK I decided to pick up the Home Made Brownies Mix. Because I didn’t get the water right last time, I paid much attention to adding the right amount of water. Even though it takes longer to make brownies the sure turned out much better than the cookies! I also loved the taste, they weren’t too sweet and had a good chocolate flavour.
I’m looking forward to baking more delicious things for my family & friends. Hahaha even though I love brownies I sure can’t eat all of it!

Cookies and brownies *drools* I didn’t know there was something specific called “American cookie” though (and I’m American :P). Are they just chocolate chip?

Well I don’t think they’re 100 procent Chocolate Chip cookies, they sure look like it. I’m sure they used ‘American Cookies’ purely for marketing purposes here in The Netherlands.

I used to bake brownies and cakes before, but I don’t think I’ve ever tried cookies yet though. The thought of the smell of freshly baked cookies/brownies/cakes is making me hungry for some!

Hahaha yeah the smell of freshy baked cookies also makes my hungry for some. I’m always pretty happy when it’s time to take them out of the oven ~
