Music Monday : EXILE Generation

Aleida May 24, 2010 3

Even though I do not follow them very actively I’ve been a BIG fan of EXILE a Japanese popband for quite some years. I fell in love with their sound at the time Shun was still a member of the group. I think I was searching for Japanese pop music via a download service and suddenly struck gold when I found EXILE. I ended up buying two CD’s of them back in 2004. I especially love their CHOO CHOO Train song *tee-hee* which I can still sing & dance along with :P

EXILE has it’s roots in ZOO and originally consisted of 7 hot guys. Last year they decided to merge with J Soul Brothers and now they form a 14 hot guys pop group! *faints* EXILE has a somewhat poppy / r&b sound. The group has 2 main lead vocalists while the rest of the group acts as backup and performers. It’s definitely a lot of fun to watch them perform. Unfortunately EXILE does not get any coverage here in The Netherlands, I have to rely on YouTube to get my fix.

The Monster Tour

I recently came across some footage of the EXILE GENERATION Monster Tour ’09 :D I couldn’t help but share it with you here…

I plan on buying this DVD via the Japanese Bookstore in Amstelveen, The Netherlands. If you’re also interested in buying this DVD, you can find more details here!

Bonus Material

You can actually see ZOO perform the original ‘CHOO CHOO Train’ track LIVE at a super big concert back in 1991 on YouTube !

Heehee I like that video. :) I feel like J-pop is something I’ve been meaning to get into (for actual or for irony…) for like 10 years. Maybe if I finally did it would help me learn japanese? Or maybe not because obviously they sing in “English” so often…
