The Joining

Anaïs has agreed to become a Grey Warden and is taken to Ostagar by Duncan. Here Anaïs hopes to be able to reach her brother Fergus to tell the terrible news about the deceit of Arl Howe and the death of their parents. Instead of finding her brother, Anaïs meets with King Cailan who tells her Fergus has gone into The Wilds on a scouting mission. The king also swears he will bring Arl Howe to justice after they have ended The Blight right here at Ostagar.

Without being able to contact her brother Anaïs can only wait and see what will happen. Duncan tells her to go meet up with Alistair who can be found in the camp up ahead. After meeting up with Alistair, Anaïs should go to Duncan again for more details about becoming a true Grey Warden.

The first step to becoming a Grey Warden sounds somewhat easy. The new recruits should head into the Korcari Wilds and collect three vials of Darkspawn blood. Alistair will travel together with the new recruits, he is able to ‘sense’ the Darkspawn when they are near. Next to filling three vials with blood, the new recruits also have to retrieve documents at the ruins of an old tower which once belonged to the Grey Wardens. Anaïs has never seen Darkspawn before and does not know what to expect. Still she is determined to collect the vials and return the documents to Duncan.

After filling three vials with Darkspawn blood the group heads to the old tower to collect the documents. But when they search the place, it seems the documents are not there anymore. Next to that, they are not alone! A young woman doesn’t seem to be very pleased to see the group walking around in The Wilds. She tells the group her name is Morrigan and that her mother has removed the documents. Anaïs asks Morrigan if she could take them to her mother. Even though Morrigan seems to be a bit stingy she does lead the group to her home to meet her mother.

The group doesn’t trust the two women who clearly seem to be Witches of The Wild, but they have no other choice than listen to Flemeth to get their hands on the documents. It seems the documents are important treaties with different groups in Ferelden which can aid the Grey Wardens in the battle against the Darkspawn. Flemeth seems a bit shifty, but she does return the treaties and warns the group the threat is much greater as they might think.
After Anaïs returns to Duncan with the three vials of Darkspawn blood and the documents it is time to take the second step. It is time to undergo The Joining ritual to become a true Grey Warden…
Not everybody is destined to survive the ritual! Will Anaïs survive, what will happen next?
