Final Onslaught

With the elves on their side the Grey Wardens finally brought together an army to stop The Blight. But there is still one thing Anaïs and her friends must do: get rid of the traitor Loghain. At The Landsmeet Arl Eamon addresses the other nobles. He is unhappy how Loghain has seized power after the death of King Cailan. Even though Loghain is the father of King Cailan’s wife, he should not have named himself regent so easily. Next to that it seems Loghain has been avoiding the threat of The Blight and has been more focused on securing his power.

Even though the nobles agree with Arl Eamon, Loghain does not want to give up his position. He is furious when he learns the Grey Wardens have worked hard to get almost all the nobles vote against him during The Landsmeet. Anaïs agrees to a one-on-one challenge with Loghain, as her champion she picks Alistair.

Loghain did not expect Alistair to win. As Loghain is knocked down he says Alistair does have a bit of King Maric, father of both Cailan as Alistair. Alistair says he should forget about Maric, this is his punishment for what he did to Duncan. He procceeds to execute Loghain for his treachery, leaving Queen Anora with the lifeless body of her father.

Once The Blight has ended Alistair and Anaïs will become the new rulers of Ferelden. Alistair knows there is still a Blight to stop. He accepts to be crowned king after the Archdemon is defeated. Anaïs and her friends return to Redcliffe to prepare for the final onslaught.

As they go over the strategy with Arl Eamon, Anaïs and Alistair meet senior Grey Warden Riordan. He tells them when killing the Archdemon it’s essence will travel to the nearest Darkspawn and is thus immortal. The Grey Warden should draw the essence within himself, killing both the Archdemon and himself! Anaïs and Alistair are shocked, Duncan did not tell them killing the Archdemon would mean death for one of them. Riordan tries to ease the minds of the two lovers and tells them he will deal the final blow and thus making sure Anaïs and Alistair will survive.

As Anaïs returns to her room, she finds Morrigan waiting for her. Morrigan tells Anaïs there is a way to escape death when killing the Archdemon. Even though Riordan has said he will deal the final blow, Anaïs knows well enough there are only three Grey Wardens in Ferelden who can kill the Archdemon. The numbers are against them. Morrigans says she can perform a ritual which leads the essence of the Archdemon away from the Grey Warden to an unborn child. But this means Morrigan has to sleep with Alistair first…

Anaïs does not want to lose Alistair after slaying the Archdemon. Even though Morrigan’s Ritual sounds truly insane, Anaïs decides to talk to Alistair and convinces him this is their best option. Alistair who truly dislikes Morrigan finally agrees if it means Anaïs and he will not be seperated. On the next day the fate of Ferelden will be decided…
Will the Grey Wardens be able to truly stop The Blight and finish off the Archdemon? Will Anaïs, Alistair and their friends survive this final battle?
