All That Remains

After spending a day out together with Anders, Ciara returns home only to find her uncle fully distressed. He tells her that Leandra was supposed to visit him, but she never showed up. Gamlen asks if Ciara’s mother is feeling ill and if that’s reason she did not visit him. When Bodhan mentions Leandra received white lilies earlier that day, Ciara is immediately reminded of the words of Gascard DuPuis

Ciara tells her uncle that there is a killer on the loose in Kirkwall. He sends his victims white lilies before he takes them, he has murdered several women already! Gascard might be able to find Leandra. Gamlen doesn’t want to believe it and says he will return home to see if Leandra might have arrived. Ciara tells him she will send word to Aveline who will be able to tell The Guard to keep a look out. Ciara heads off to Darktown where Gascard was heading last time they met.

Finding Gascard Dupuis in Darktown

Ciara finds Gascard in Darktown and tells him The Killer has taken her mother. Gascard says the woman who was with him the first time they met was also taken. He still has a vial of her blood, with a special blood ritual he can pinpoint the location of The Killer and hopefully find Ciara’s mother too. Even though Ciara is against blood magic, she asks Gascard to perform the ritual – she must find her mother before something bad happens.

The ritual points to an old foundry in Lowtown. Guided by Gascard, Ciara and her friends go deeper and deeper into the building. It seems someone is living beneath the foundry. This person has also set up a shrine dedicated to a wife or sister. But, the face of the woman in the painting looks like that of Ciara’s mother !!!

They finally meet The Killer eye to eye! Gascard calls to him using the name Quentin. Ciara is surprised the two know eachother. Gascard reveals Quentin has promised to teach him the secrets of necromancy. If they take out Quentin, Ciara will have her mother back and he will possess the secrets of necromancy. But, Quentin tells him now that he is ready Gascard can become his apprentice. Before Gascard can switch sides, Varric kills him with a well placed arrow straight through his throat.

Can Leandra be saved?

Quentin finally reveals why he needed all the women he killed. He used their bodies to piece together his dead wife. He found her eyes, her skin, her fingers and now he finally found her face – the face of Ciara’s mother! As Quentin introduces his bride he attacks Ciara and her friends. Overwhelmed by emotion Ciara and her friends are able to defeat him, but are they able to rescue Leandra?

Nothing can help Leandra
Ciara says goodbye to her mother

Anders tells Quentin’s magic was keeping Leandra alive, now that he is gone her mother will die too. As Ciara tries to accept the reality and feels guilty she didn’t keep an eye on her mother, Leandra tells her not to worry. Ciara has become a strong girl and she will always love her.
