A new year has begun which means there are new software and hardware releases to look forward to. In this post I’d like to share my wishlist for 2012 ♥
Videogames
Most titles I’m totally looking forward to actually do not have a fixed release date – yet. If these titles are released this year, I’m definitely going to pick them up!
Assassin’s Creed
I’m a total Assassin’s Creed fangirl. After Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (2011) the story of Altaïr and Ezio is concluded and now it’s up to Desmond. The first game in the series already hinted an important event that will take place in 2012. Next to that Alexandre Amacio, game director of Revelations, mentioned
…it would be stupid of us to be centering a game on a semi-reality and then have that conclusion happen after that date in real life.
I’m expecting a release somewhere in November this year and will definitely try to pick up a collector’s edition of this game on it’s release day.
Journey
Created by thatgamecompany which also created Flower (2009) a game that I truly enjoyed. I love how music again plays an important part in experiencing this game and how players can interact with eachother without being able to chat. Check out the trailer above for a quick taste of the game. Journey is set for a release in Spring and will only be available as digital download for PlayStation 3.
Tomb Raider
Ever since Angelina Jolie starred as Lara Croft in the movies, I’ve been a fan of Tomb Raider. I loved playing Tomb Raider: Legend (2006) and Tomb Raider: Underworld (2009). When I heard Square Enix planned to reboot the series I got scared & curious at the same time. Even though I’m always a bit careful with reboots, I’m looking forward to play this game and discover Lara all over again.
The Last of Us
During the 2011 Spike Videogame Awards Naughty Dog released a very exciting announcement trailer of their latest project: The Last of Us. I’m not sure if this game will see a release in 2012, but I’m already looking forward to it. I’m a big fan of the Uncharted franchise and I’m sure Naughty Dog will deliver another strong game with The Last of Us.
Z.O.E. HD Collection
Zone of the Enders (2001) was actually the first PlayStation 2 game I bought and I loved it. Unfortunately my brother got his hands on it and traded it in. I was totally sad about it since it’s impossible to find the original game again. When I heard the HD Collection is on it’s way I seriously jumped for joy. Definitely gonna pick this one up as soon as it’s out!
Hardware Upgrades
I picked up my PlayStation 3 in the Summer of 2008, just a few days before the release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. It is still the original model with a 40gb harddrive. I know some owners have replaced the harddisk for a bigger one, but I’m not willing to risk damaging my console. I’m currently looking into replacing my old PlayStation 3 for a Slim model with a 320gb harddrive. I plan on giving my old PlayStation 3 to my parents and use it as a mediaplayer in the family room. Will make a decision about buying a new model before Summer.
At the end of this year I will also be able to upgrade my iPhone 4 with the renewal of my mobile phone subscription. Can’t believe it’s almost 2 years ago since I upgraded from an iPhone 3G. I will definitely keep my eye on Apple and prefer to upgrade to an iPhone 5.
But, I might take a look at the competition as well. I kinda like the Samsung Galaxy Note. Even though working with a stylus seems like going back in time ever since Apple introduced using our own fingers, but I actually like the taking notes feel which is illustrated in the video above.
This year I will also keep my eye on the development of ultrabooks. My desktop computer will turn 3 this Summer. That’s definitely a good age to think about upgrading again. Even though I enjoyed using a desktop computer I would like to become more flexible again using a laptop, but I don’t want to trade in too much power. An ultrabook might be a good replacement, probably somewhere in 2013.
So, now I’m curious about you! What software & hardware releases are you looking forward to this year? I’d love to know…

I just got a PS3 this past Christmas, and I’ve looking for games to add to my collection. I’ve heard about Assassin’s Creed before and how great it was, but then I saw a commercial for it, and now I totally want that game :P The company totally succeeded in their ads, lol
Assassin’s Creed is definitely an awesome franchise, but be sure to start at the beginning with the original game or else the start of the Ezio saga in AC2.
Another great series is of course Uncharted which is a PlayStation exclusive and seriously a must pick up title! Have a great time with your new PlayStation 3 ~
