Trailer Talk: John Carter

I already caught the amazing trailer for the upcoming movie John Carter last year and I’m currently looking forward to the theatrical release of the movie in March this year. Last month Disney released an official 2012 trailer with a short introduction by the director of the movie Andrew Stanton. I simply had to share the new trailer in today’s #TrailerTalk blogpost!

When I first saw the title of the movie I thought it sounded a little old fashioned. But I decided to go ahead and watch the trailer anyway. I was seriously blown away!

I started to search for more information about the movie and was surprised the movie is actually based on books by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the creator of Tarzan. Burroughs began writing the Barsoom books in the second half of 1911, and produced one volume a year between 1911 and 1914. Seven more were produced between 1921 and 1941. The first Barsoom tale was serialised as Under the Moons of Mars in 1912, and published in book form as A Princess of Mars in 1917. I think it’s just awesome that about 100 years later a movie is made based on these books. I didn’t even know Burroughs inspired so many people who created some iconic sci-fi work.

Needless to say I’m totally looking forward to the release of this movie. Want to know more about this upcoming movie? Be sure to check out the official John Carter website and IMDb.
