Music Monday: Defected In The House Ibiza ’12

It’s been a while since I last featured an EDM track in one of my #MusicMonday posts. I felt a little out of it after getting hooked on K-pop and didn’t keep my eye on new releases. One of the labels I love is Defected Records, I adore house music! So in today’s post I just had to share a special preview of the upcoming Defected In The House Ibiza ’12.

Defected In The House Ibiza ’12 is mixed by the founder of Defected Records Simon Dunmore and will feature 3 mixes showcasing the impressive diversity of house music that Defected now champions. The album will also feature the unmixed tracks so (amateur) DJ’s can feature them in their own set :D I really dig the special 10 minute preview and will be picking it up when it’s released on May 21st, 2012 !

Music Monday: Juliette

After I caught SHINee ‘s comeback track Sherlock I just had to listen to more material of this pretty awesome K-pop group! I’m glad Korean music labels are very well represented on YouTube making it a lot easier to discover more artists & awesome tracks. Most music videos are uploaded to official channels and are shareable. It’s a lot harder to find full MV’s of my my favorite J-pop groups e.g. EXILE :(

In today’s #MusicMonday post I would like to share SHINee’s JULIETTE track. It’s actually the Japanese version of the song. I not just like the funky sound of the track, but also the styling of the members in the video! I usually focus on the sound of a track, but while riding the Korean Wave I’ve become more sensitive to the choreography & styling in the music videos as well *gulp*

I already planned on buying some colorful chino’s for late Spring / Summer this year, but after watching this video I will definitely be picking up a pair! Not sure how much K-pop will further influence my wardrobe, but I’ve got a feeling this is just the beginning hahhaha ~

Music Monday: Silenced By The Night

I have spend the last couple of #MusicMonday blogpost riding the Korean Wave and sharing loads of awesome K-pop tunes. In today’s post I would like to share the first single of KEANE ‘s upcoming album! I mentioned KEANE in a blogpost earlier. I’ve been a fan of the band since the release of their Hopes & Fears (2004) album and have seen them perform live in AHOY, Rotterdam (NL) twice. I’m truly looking forward to their new album!

‘Silenced By The Night’ is the first track from KEANE’s new album called Strangeland which will be released on May 7th, 2012. Be sure to check out www.keanemusic.com for more info about this awesome band!

Music Monday: EXO Showcase

Ever since I heard their first prologue single What Is Love I’ve been keeping my eye on EXO, a twelve-member Chinese-South Korean boy group under SM Entertainment. I truly adore their second prologue single History and have developed a preference for EXO-M. Not so long ago EXO debuted during a special showcase, reason enough to share some footage in today’s #MusicMonday post!

In the video above EXO performs their ‘History’ single on stage and the members introduce themselves to the crowd. SM Entertainment has also included footage of the pretty cool teaser trailers of the members. As I mentioned before EXO is divided into two subgroups: EXO-K which will be promoted in Korea and EXO-M which will be promoted in China. Thanks to the internet and the power of YouTube both groups also have loads of international fans.

In the video above the members of EXO answer questions from fans all over the world. I think it’s really nice they’ve included the questions of these international fans in the showcase. YouTube definitely helped build up their international fanbase, I too became a fan thanks to SM Entertainment uploading their videos. There are 4 videos in total that cover the EXO Showcase. The group has also released their first mini album called ‘Mama’ you can find both EXO-K & EXO-M versions on iTunes.

Music Monday: SHINee

I’m still riding the Korean Wave and enjoying all the (new) K-pop groups I’m discovering along the way. In today’s #MusicMonday post I would love to share SHINee ‘s comeback track Sherlock. The group was originally founded by SM Entertainment back in 2008. On December 28, 2011 Tower Records Japan announced that Shinee had won the ‘Artist of the Year’ award at the K-Pop Lovers! Awards 2011, beating out other prestigeous K-Pop groups such as Kara and Super Junior for the award.

I really like the sound of Sherlock and adore the dance moves & fashion! It continues to baffle me how awesome these K-pop groups are. Not only do their tracks rock, the groups have great styling & the marketing behind it *gasp* The track actually hit the charts pretty hard when it was released, it stayed on the #1 position in various charts. Love it! Really looking forward to hearing more material of their new album also named Sherlock!
